British TV series, Call The Midwife, was an instant hit when it first came to our screens on PBS.

Based on the memoirs of a real-life midwife, Jennifer Worth, Call The Midwife tells the stories of families, childbirth, midwives, social conditions and relationships amid the restrictions of post-war East-End of London in the 1950s.

Into these stories wind the adventures of midwives, Jenny, Trixie, Chummy and Cynthia, aided, abetted, and sometimes scolded by their mentors, Sisters Julienne, Evangelina, Bernadette and Monica Joan.
