Recognizing the Horse in Pain is back in a second edition Now in a fully expanded, updated, and revised edition, this favorite among equestrians is better than ever with new illustrations and images, new topics, and a massive overhaul. Learn about conformational, behavioral, and training issues related to equine pain, and understand both Western and Eastern approaches to diagnostics and treatment. Learn about the anatomy of saddle-fit and how to check your own saddle, common fitting issues related to conformation and injuries related to poor fit. See basic stretches you can do with your horse, and understand the importance of getting your horse engaged in the core and lifted in its back. From anatomy to compounded medications, saddle-pads to acupuncture, this book contains all the must-have information, with references and research, for the horseman or horsewoman who wants to understand the language of the horse and put their horses first
Joanna Robson, DVM, CVSMT, CMP, CVA, CSFT, CIT is an integrative veterinarian and nationally and internationally renown speaker and clinician on the whole horse approach, the anatomy of saddle-fitting, recognizing the horse in pain, and understanding alternative medicine modalities. She is a co-founder of the non-profit Horse Industry Professionals Protecting Our Horses, and is a partner in Saddlefit4Life and Technical Director of EquineIR - an equine thermal imaging training program. In addition to her experience as a veterinarian, lecturer, and author, Dr. Robson has been a life-long equestrian, competing in the hunters, jumpers, and dressage. Her passion is educating others about recognizing the horse in pain and empowering others to make educated decisions about the welfare of the horse.
