Daphne Simpkins lives happily in Montgomery, AL where she was born near the famous garden district of the city, Cloverdale. She started writing the Mildred Budge books after completing a memoir about taking care of her father who died of Alzheimer's (The Long Good Night). In addition to writing, Daphne teaches English as an adjunct at a local university and serves on the speakers' bureau of The Alabama Humanities Foundation.
