Meticulously photographed with images that are both artful and accurate, the two volumes in this guidebook series cover more than 375 wildflower species now found in southeastern Iowa including many similar species, rarities, and uncommon wildflowers not normally listed in regional guidebooks. Also included are many newcomers to Iowa.

Volume 1 covers 180 wildflowers first blooming in March, April, and May; volume 2 covers almost 200 flowers first blooming in June through October. Clear and concise descriptions complement the vivid photographs to show you exactly what to look for and help you quickly and confidently identify wildflowers whether in your backyard or along the trail.

Flowers in both volumes are organized by the month they first bloom in Iowa. Each flower has a full-page photograph along with inset photographs where they will further aid identification, a description of its blooms and leaves, and additional information on its blooming months, height, common and scientific names, the habitat where it is typically found, and similar species.
