SYNOPSIS: Bursting with anger, MJ refuses to go to bed. With the help of her two moms, her dog Skye, and cat Indie, she gets to the bottom of her big emotions. They help her navigate friendship and her feelings after she shares why she is angry.

Oftentimes, anger is the first reaction that arises when a child feels sad, hurt, jealous or afraid, which can be mistaken for acting out or being "bad." To help MJ feel heard and seen, they validate her feelings and give her the tools she needs to identify what's going on inside.

Building and growing your child's emotional intelligence and emotional vocabulary should start at a very young age to help them make sense of what's going on both inside and around them. All the various ways children behave actually stems from very big, complex emotions.

When you validate their feelings and give them the tools they need to recognize their emotions and identify what triggered a particular emotion, it will improve their ability to use new language for self-expression instead of reacting when their emotions take over.

These small gestures are the first steps in a child's healing process that can lead to resilience and higher self-esteem later in life. Don't miss out on the opportunity to allow a child to feel heard and seen. Opening up the door to communication and connection will help them understand why they are feeling what they are feeling and that it is okay to have emotions.

The greatest gift we can offer our children is to set them up for success in life with healthy minds and hearts to navigate this hard world.

This story was written to help introduce children and parents to a simplified approach to big topics that require big talks. The practice of rhyming not only makes reading (and being read to) more enjoyable and memorable, it also makes talking about difficult emotions not so scary.

Positive mantras for kids can help them deal with new experiences and overwhelming, BIG feelings. Mantras have the power to improve confidence, soothe anxiety, and spark joyous feelings. The powerful mantra at the end of the book can be read together, said alone, out loud, or silently in your mind. Use it to ignite your magic.

"I am brave and I am strong. I am loved and I belong. No matter what happens I will thrive and carry on!"
