Song of Solomon 1:4 says, "Come, let us run away together." That's what we what to encourage you to do as you go through this material--run away together and to do so in each other's shoes. As the old adage goes, "If you walk a mile in someone else's shoes, you have a better understanding of them." We want you to finish this book with a greater appreciation for your spouse and the role that he or she has in your marriage. It won't fix all of your problems. You've spent years making that mess. No book can clean it up that quickly. However, we do believe that the perspective we'll share will help--if your marriage is struggling--to work your way out of some of those problems. And if you're kicking back saying, "You know what, our marriage is just fine," the perspective we want to share will help you move from a "just fine" marriage to a thriving marriage. It's not going to be for any one unique group of people or any one particular kind of marriage. There will be something for every married couple (and for the unmarried folks as well).
