He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Melbourne, is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the Gastroenterological Society of Australia. He currently works, in private and public practice, and as a Clinical Senior lecturer with The James Cook University Medical School, Townsville Australia. He has more than twenty years of experience in specialist medical practice and teaching in Townsville where he lives with his wife, Carol, and their four children.
